Arkells-On Paper

13 Sep

I truly appreciate creative music videos especially when they are the background to a great song. Canadian band the Arkells’ latest single, On Paper, is no exception!

A flea market treasure!

11 Sep

Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Landscape on the Banks of the Seine, 1879.

It always surprises and delights me to see that artworks from famous artists continue to be discovered in unexpected places. The most recent story is that of a Renoir painting bought at a West Virginia flea market and estimated to fetch between 75,ooo$ and 100,000$ at auction. The story is worth reading at The Washington Post.

I haven’t forgotten you!

2 Sep

The blog has been on hiatus for the past few months. The reason is I went on a very long trip and since coming back I haven’t been motivated to write anything. But that’s all about to change. I’ll be back posting very soon but not on a daily basis like I used to. I want to thank everyone who has visited the blog and continues to do so even though there hasn’t been any new material. It makes my day knowing that people from all around the world are interested in what I have to share! So once again, thank you all very much! And keep on visiting!

Montreal’s Hidden Treasures: Dominion Square Tavern

30 Apr

I recently had the chance to visit Dominion Square Tavern, a little place hidden on Metcalfe Street, in Downtown Montreal. The ambiance is quite pleasant and the decor oozes old world charm (you’d think you were transported back to the Roaring Twenties). The drinks and cocktails are fantastic and crafted with homemade tonic. The restaurant offers bistro-style dishes with an accessible French Canadian palate and the cuisine is also notably infused with a British sensibility. If you are visiting Montreal, this is a must-see.
